# Oracles

> How Rhizome market prices are produced and guarded against stale data.

Each market oracle returns the value of one collateral unit in loan-token terms using the scale expected by Morpho Blue.

Rhizome's initial markets use upstream `MorphoChainlinkOracleV2` contracts wrapped by the custom `StaleGuardedOracle`. The wrapper verifies that configured feeds match the inner oracle, checks that answers are positive, and rejects missing, future, or stale timestamps before returning the inner oracle price unchanged.

The guard also exposes `isFresh()` for monitoring. A fresh timestamp does not prove that a reported price is economically correct.

## Initial oracle design

* WRBTC markets use a BTC/USD base feed.
* RIF markets use a RIF/USD base feed.
* USDT0 loan markets use a USDT/USD quote feed.
* USDRIF loan markets use a fixed USD 1 quote because the evaluated USDRIF feed rejects contract callers.

The fixed USDRIF quote does not protect lenders from a USDRIF depeg.

## When an oracle reverts

Borrowing, collateral withdrawal, and liquidation require the oracle price and therefore revert while the guard rejects it. Supplying loan assets, withdrawing available loan assets, and repaying do not require that price.

See [Risks](/risks) before relying on any market oracle.
